At Together Chicago, we believe that real change happens when people with a heart for their community step up to lead. One of those leaders is Ed Brown, our Street Outreach Supervisor, whose dedication and presence in Austin has been faithful and consistent.

We are thrilled to see Ed’s hard work recognized by Austin Weekly News. He was highlighted as one of Austin’s dedicated outreach leaders working to foster peace through Community Violence Intervention (CVI).

In the piece, Ed shares his journey from “running in the streets in my past life” to becoming a leader who mentors others with grace, empathy, and boots-on-the-ground experience. His story is a testament to God’s goodness and the critical role of street outreach in breaking cycles of violence.

As Ed puts it, “I am a true example that demonstrates that anyone can change.” His leadership not only guides our outreach teams but also inspires the next generation to believe in safer, better ways to live.

We’re grateful to Austin Weekly News for spotlighting Ed and other dedicated CVI workers who work tirelessly to create peace in our neighborhoods.
