Since its founding in 2017, Together Chicago has remained steadfast in its mission to reduce violence, foster economic development, and create thriving communities rooted in the gospel of Jesus Christ being expressed in issues of justice and mercy. The organization’s original vision, championed by David Dillon and Michael Allen, was to unite churches, businesses, and communities in inspiring hope by reducing gun violence and increasing thriving communities across Chicago. Under their leadership, Together Chicago has delivered measurable impact through partnerships and innovative initiatives.
Over the past eight years, our organization has seen remarkable outcomes. Thousands of students have benefitted from educational programs, community violence has been mitigated in key areas, and legal assistance has been provided to underserved residents. Collaborative efforts have brought jobs to underserved neighborhoods, supported at-risk youth, and mobilized faith-based communities to act as agents of change. These milestones stand as a testament to the grace of God, the resilience and unity of Chicago’s communities, underscoring the importance of collective efforts that have shaped TC’s accomplishments.
Today, Together Chicago enters a new chapter as David and Michael pass the baton to Jonathan Banks and Mark O’Halloran, who are committed to building upon the foundation laid by their predecessors. Both leaders are already deeply embedded in the work of TC—Jonathan has served as Chief Operating Officer since 2022, and Mark has been involved since the organization’s inception, most recently serving as Chief Financial Officer since 2020.
Jonathan Banks brings 15 years of nonprofit management experience and a deep passion for inspiring others to realize their God-given potential. With an undergraduate degree in engineering from Purdue University and an MBA from Northwestern University, Jonathan blends technical expertise with strategic leadership. In addition to his work in education and mentorship, Jonathan has played a key role in community development initiatives, equipping individuals with the tools they need to thrive. His leadership, combined with his dedication to service, will be instrumental in advancing Together Chicago’s mission.
Mark O’Halloran brings a wealth of experience as a manufacturing entrepreneur and a proven leader in engineering-centric industries. Over a 25-year career, he has spearheaded transformative change, achieving dramatic productivity gains and fostering world-class teams. A linguist fluent in Spanish, German, and French, and an MBA graduate from the University of Chicago, Mark brings a global perspective to his work. Beyond his corporate leadership, Mark has been deeply involved in community-driven initiatives, leveraging his expertise to create sustainable opportunities for economic growth and workforce development. His innovative approach and commitment to service make him a valuable leader for the next phase of our organization’s impact.
Together Chicago extends its deepest gratitude to David and Michael for their years of faithful service. They will remain on the Board of Directors and will continue to serve as Senior Advisors. We are deeply grateful to God for all of our generous donors, dedicated staff, and faithful partners. We welcome Jonathan and Mark with great anticipation for the journey ahead. As the organization transitions into this new season, its commitment to unity, faith, and service remains unwavering.
Please join us in praying for Jonathan and Mark, that God will lead them with His wisdom, skillful hands, and integrity of heart.
