Together Chicago is proud to celebrate Damien Howard, our Director of Education Initiatives, as he marks his ninth year teaching life skills to youth and young adults through the Summer Youth Employment Program through the Near West Side Community Development Corporation.
Each summer, Damien leads hundreds of young people on Chicago’s West Side through a transformative learning experience that equips them not just for seasonal jobs—but for life. Over 300 youth are served annually, gaining critical tools that extend far beyond the summer months.
Through his life skills curriculum, participants develop:

Damien’s work is a powerful example of Together Chicago’s commitment to city-wide transformation through education, mentorship, and opportunity. His long-standing partnership with Near West Side CDC continues to activate youth potential, supporting youth seeking pathways into promise and success.
