This year’s annual THR!VE Pastor’s Growth Summit brought pastors and ministry leaders together at the historic Quinn Chapel AME Church to strengthen the Church’s capacity to serve Chicago with wisdom, compassion, and commitment. Led by Justice Journey Alliance and spearheaded by Rev. Alvin C. Bibbs Sr., THR!VE encouraged pastors and faith leaders to learn, connect and strengthen their work alongside Chicago communities.
Across the day, speakers invited attendees to explore the power of coalition-building, the importance of listening before designing solutions, and to recognize the resources already present in people, relationships, spaces, and lived experiences. Meaningful change begins with faith-filled stewardship and partnership.
Rev. Dr. James Brooks draws from his personal experience when saying that the Church cannot simply serve a community from a distance—we must become part of it. Pastor John Zayas encouraged leaders to ask, “What has God already placed in our hands?” And conversations on policy, racial justice, and violence reduction called us to turn convictions into practices that honor dignity and build trust for neighbors who have often been overlooked.
